Missouri Unclaimed Property
Missouri Unclaimed Property Totals Over $1 Billion

Missouri unclaimed property and unclaimed money totals have increased, like most states, to over $1 billion now.  This is spread over five million accounts of current and former Missourians.  That is an average of nearly $200 per claim!

Like most states, Missouri requires local business and other entities to turn over dormant accounts, usually 5 years, containing cash and in some instances property such as gold coins, war medals and other items.  These items are usually contents of abandoned security deposit boxes handed over by local banks.  These businesses hand over tens of millions of unclaimed money and unclaimed property owed to residents of Missouri.

Missouri Unclaimed Property Website | One Of The Best

The Missouri unclaimed property website is one of the best in the country with its resources and information.

Unclaimed Money Database Search

The Missouri website boasts a very user friendly search platform with under $10 has the exact amount, $20-30 and over $50 ranges.  The site also allows you to track your claim online via the website.  The website also allows you to search for missing savings bonds online.

Unclaimed Military Medals Search

It boasts a place for military medals with pictures and the names of those who’s medals have been lost.  Most have names, but there are some without any information.  The medals include a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Army Achievement Medal and more.

Unclaimed Property Auctions

Missouri also has items it collects from abandoned security deposit boxes.  These boxes are at least five years old and the state assumes custody of the items for four to five years, waiting for them to be claimed.  If they are unclaimed for that period of time they are then auctioned off once annually.  These items can be St. Louis baseball cards, family photos, $50,000 in gold coins and more.  You can sign up for updates on the auction via their website.

There are other features including an option of donating your unclaimed money or unclaimed property.  The site also offers a worksheet outlining your family tree to help identify property and money belonging to deceased relatives.
